Crypto prank apps: what each one does, and where a joke stops
Nine apps and pages that come up for crypto prank searches, each opened on October 12, 2026 and described from its own listing. Then the line every prank has to stay behind: it gets revealed, and it never gets anything from anyone.

A crypto prank app draws an exchange or wallet screen with a balance you choose, so a friend sees a fortune, or a crash, that is not there. It stays a prank only if you reveal it before anyone acts on it: used to obtain money, a loan, a sale, a job, a relationship or trust, the same screen is a false representation, the opening move of the staged-gains scams the FTC reports.
Crypto prank apps that come up, side by side
These are the apps and pages that rank for crypto prank searches, each opened on its store listing or its own page on October 12, 2026. Ratings and dates are the listing's own; an app with two ratings tells you little either way.

| LarpBank, LarpCrypto mode | App Store, Google Play | A portfolio seeded with BTC, ETH, SOL, DOGE and USDC, custom holdings and simulated market ticks | Offline, no account; editing balances needs the Pro purchase; 4.7 from 219 ratings on the App Store |

| Prank Wallet, an ETHGlobal Lisbon project | Hackathon showcase | A developer tool that views apps as another on-chain account and previews a transaction without signing it | Not a prank app despite its name; won several sponsor prizes |
Three different things share one search
The list mixes three kinds of software that answer different wishes.
- Prank screens (Crypto Prank, Prank Coin, BitCrypto, the prank website): one big number, built to be shown to someone. Their own copy talks about fooling friends, and that is the whole product.
- Paper-trading and what-if simulators (Crypto Trading Simulator, CustomCrypto, Fake Crypto Investor): virtual money that moves with real prices, for learning. Nobody is meant to be fooled; the balance is a score.
- Developer tools (the ETHGlobal Prank Wallet): software that previews transactions safely, with "prank" in the name and nothing else in common.
There is a fourth thing the same words reach, and it is the dangerous one: apps that imitate a real wallet to collect a recovery phrase. They are covered in fake crypto wallet apps: simulator or scam.
Searches for a crypto prank website or a bitcoin prank website also return pages made with AI website builders that describe wallet pranks, and download portals offering Android prank wallet files. We did not check those downloads; why a wallet-shaped file from a portal deserves suspicion is in free larp wallet: what the free ones really are.
Where a joke stops
A prank is something you reveal. The friend sees the number, reacts, and within the same conversation learns it was staged. Nothing changes hands, nobody decides anything because of it, and the screen leaves their life as fast as it entered.
The same screen stops being a joke the moment it is used to get something. Whatever the app is called, never use a mockup to obtain:
- money: a payment, a loan from a friend, an investment in "your" strategy;
- credit: a lender, a landlord or anyone weighing whether you can pay;
- a sale: a course, signals, a membership or a product sold on the strength of the gains on screen;
- a job: a trading record you claim in an interview;
- a relationship or trust: a date, a partner or a follower who believes you are rich.
The law does not care which app drew the screen. In England and Wales, section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006 makes it an offense to dishonestly make a false representation intending to make a gain or cause a loss, and the representation can be express or implied: showing a balance as yours is one. The maximum on indictment is 10 years in prison. In the US, the FTC takes reports of these schemes at ReportFraud.ftc.gov; in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Report Fraud (reportfraud.police.uk) replaced Action Fraud on December 4, 2025.
Staged wealth is how real scams start
The line matters because staged wealth is the opening move of real fraud, and regulators document it.
- The FTC reported in October 2023 that more than half the money reported lost to fraud on social media in the first half of that year went to investment scams, in which scammers promote their own supposed investment success and steer people to bogus investment sites and apps. Reported losses to scams that started on social media reached $2.7 billion from January 2021 to June 2023.
- In June 2022, the FTC reported that more than 46,000 people had reported losing over $1 billion in crypto to scams since the start of 2021. Victims described investment websites and apps that let them watch their crypto grow, all of it invented, and when they tried to cash out they were told to send more crypto for fees.
- Report Fraud's guidance on romance fraud, which it also calls pig butchering, says never to send money to someone you have only met online, explicitly including cryptocurrency and money for investments.
Read from the other side, that is a safety rule too. If anyone shows you a balance, a profit or a portfolio to get you to send, invest or trust, the screen is the least reliable thing in the conversation. A balance is checked from an address on a block explorer or with a signed message, never from a picture; five tells in a wallet screenshot shows what a composed screen gives away.
How a prank stays a prank
- Reveal it fast, in the same conversation, before anyone acts on it or passes it on.
- Pick people who will laugh, not people who might lend to you, buy from you, hire you or fall for you.
- Never send a confirmation screen to someone expecting money. A "withdrawal confirmed" or "sent" screen shown to a seller is a false proof of payment, not a joke.
- Label anything you post. Clips get reposted without their caption, so put "Mockup" in the frame for as long as the wallet is on screen.
- Leave real names and handles out of any screen with a balance.
- Never type a real recovery phrase into a prank app, and drop any prank app that asks for one: it is not a prank app.
Where My Larp Wallet fits
My Larp Wallet is not sold as a prank app. It is a crypto wallet app simulator: you compose a wallet screen (tokens, amounts, avatar, accent color and wallet name), and it opens full screen on your phone at your own address, with live market prices for SOL, ETH, BTC, HYPE and USDC refreshed every 4 seconds. It holds no funds, connects to no wallet and never asks for a seed phrase. Every screen it draws is a mockup.
Its terms go further than a footer line. Section 3 forbids using a screen to make anyone believe you hold assets you do not hold, to obtain a payment, an investment, a loan or any other advantage from a fictional financial position, or as a document presented as authentic. So it fits the uses where nobody is meant to believe the number: a skit with the Mockup label in frame, a video about crypto, a product demo, a class. It does not fit a joke that only works while someone is fooled.
The difference between a mockup and a deception is set out in what a larp wallet is, and the banking side of the same question in bank app simulators. To see what it draws before deciding anything, look at the wallet on the home page.

Questions
Is there a crypto prank app?
Yes. On the App Store, Crypto Prank: Profit Simulator draws exchange-style gains or crashes and Prank Coin shows a fortune in a coin you pick; on Google Play, BitCrypto draws a bitcoin wallet with an amount you set. Paper-trading apps such as Crypto Trading Simulator and CustomCrypto also come up, but they are learning tools, not pranks.
What is a good crypto prank website?
One that is honest about being a prank and never asks for a recovery phrase, a private key or a wallet connection. Several results for crypto prank website searches are pages made with AI website builders or download portals, which we did not check. A web page needs nothing installed, which already removes the biggest risk of a prank app.
Is a crypto prank illegal?
A prank revealed to a friend in the same conversation is a joke. Showing the screen to get money, credit, a sale, a job or a relationship is a false representation: in England and Wales, section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006 covers it, with up to 10 years in prison on indictment, whatever app drew the screen.
Can a crypto prank app steal my crypto?
A prank app that only draws a screen cannot. One that asks for your recovery phrase, a private key or a wallet connection can, and that request is the point of it. Never type a real phrase into any prank, simulator or larp app.
Is My Larp Wallet a crypto prank app?
No. It is a crypto wallet app simulator for videos, product demos and classes, and its terms forbid using a screen to make anyone believe you hold assets you do not hold. It holds no funds, connects to no wallet and never asks for a seed phrase.
