Export sizes for MacBook
| Use | Width | Height |
|---|---|---|
| Native 2x Landing page hero | 3129 px | 1872 px |
| Padded canvas Default export with 10 percent padding | 3754 px | 2498 px |
| Wide social card Laptop on the right, headline on the left | 1600 px | 900 px |
The first row is the frame alone at that scale. Other rows are canvas sizes: set the padding and rotation noted, then place the PNG on a background of that size.
The 16:10 screen
A laptop screen is wider than it is tall. We draw a display of 1440 × 900 pt, which is 2880 × 1800 pixels at 2x, a ratio of 16:10, and Apple's App Store Connect lists 2880 × 1800 among the sizes accepted for Mac apps. That makes this the right frame for a Mac app listing picture or any desktop capture taken on a Retina display, since a native capture fills the glass exactly.
A 16:9 capture, such as a video frame, will not fit the glass without cropping. Fill crops the top and bottom edges, Fit adds black bars, and Stretch distorts, so check which one hides the least of your content.
What is drawn
The lid has a black border of 9 pt, a metal edge of 2 pt and a small camera notch at the top of the glass, drawn as a 100 × 15 pt tab. Below it is a thin base with a thumb dip, 14 pt deep. The lid is 1462 × 922 pt and the whole laptop 1564.34 × 936 pt, so the export is 3129 × 1872 px at 2x or 4693 × 2808 px at 3x with no padding.
Finishes are silver, graphite, deep blue and sand. The base uses the same finish with a darker lower edge, so the laptop looks like one object in front of a gradient or a flat color.
Matching desktop wallpapers
If your capture shows the desktop, a wallpaper at the right pixel size keeps the whole picture crisp. Our wallpaper pages offer 2880 × 1800 Mac backgrounds: set one as your desktop, take a capture, and drop it here. A laptop mockup for a web app also works well with the browser window at about 80 percent of the screen so the edges of the glass stay visible.
Questions
What is the screen size of a Retina MacBook?
Screenshots for Mac apps are accepted at 2880 × 1800, which is 1440 × 900 points at 2x. This frame uses that size.
Is this the official MacBook image?
No. It is a drawing of a generic laptop, made by us. Not affiliated with Apple.
Can I use a 16:9 screenshot?
Yes, with Fit or Fill. A 16:9 image does not match the 16:10 glass exactly.
Can I get a transparent PNG of the laptop?
Yes. Choose Transparent as the background.
