What changed at Apple

Apple’s screenshot page is dated 17 September 2026; this calculator was last compared with it on 28 September 2026.

• By 16 September 2026App Store Connect’s screenshot page adds the iPhone 18 Pro Max (6.9-inch slot) and the iPhone 18 Pro (6.3-inch), and a new iPhone Duo slot: 1398 × 2034 for the outer display, 2007 × 2853 for the inner one, with uploads “available later this year”. On the Apple Watch line, 422 × 514 now also names the Ultra 4 and 416 × 496 the Series 12. The Web Archive’s copies date it: none of this is on the copy of 30 July, all of it is on the copy of 16 September. The page’s current version is dated 17 September.
• 9 September 2026The Human Interface Guidelines Layout page no longer carries its table of device screen sizes. The geometry on this page comes from Xcode’s device profiles and the Simulator instead.

Where these numbers come from

• Accepted sizes, requirements, fallbacks and device lists: App Store Connect Help, Screenshot specifications, dated 17 September 2026. On 28 September 2026 every slot on this page was compared with that page, both ways: each size we list is on Apple’s page, in the same slot and with the same label, and each size Apple lists is here.
• App previews: App preview specifications, compared the same way, and the rule to “provide only the highest resolution screenshots required” from Upload app previews and screenshots.
• Panel pixels, scale, corner radius and Dynamic Island: the device profiles shipped with Xcode 27.0 (27A266a). Pixel density: Apple’s specification pages where they give one (the Simulator’s figure is not always the device’s: 326 ppi for the iPhone 8 Plus, whose specification says 401).
• Points, native scale, safe areas and status bar: read in the iOS 27.0 Simulator on 28 September 2026 by a one-screen probe app. A model that was not booted itself carries the reading of another one, and its card names it: a model with the same screen, or, for some iPads, another iPad (iPadOS 27 gave every iPad measured the same insets). iOS 27 does not run on the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, XS Max and XR: the first five show the reading of a newer iPhone with the same screen, and the 8 Plus, which has none, is marked as not measurable. Xcode 27.0 has no iPhone Duo.
• Cross-check: in the Simulator the iPhone 16 gives a 59 pt top safe area, a 54 pt status bar and a 34 pt bottom inset, the same as our pixel measurement of a real screenshot.
• Simulator screenshots: xcrun simctl io gives the right pixel size but a PNG with an alpha channel, on all 18 devices checked. sips -s format jpeg -s formatOptions 95 in.png --out out.jpg gives the same size with no alpha.
